Insurance shouldn’t feel like a burden, especially for Europe’s 25 million small businesses. But for many, it still is. Slow claims, confusing policies, and outdated systems leave cafés, freelancers, and retailers underserved and exposed.

That’s exactly what Paris-based startup Orus is fixing—one claim at a time.

The company just raised a €25 million Series B round, led by Singular, with backing from Notion Capital and Redstone. The fresh capital will support Orus’s international expansion, starting in Spain, and help launch a broker platform designed to modernise how small businesses access insurance. The team also plans to double in size by 2026.

This brings Orus’s total funding to €41 million, following a €5M seed and an €11M Series A closed in 2023.

Transforming the Broken SMB Insurance Model

Orus was founded in 2021 by Côme Dartiguenave, Tom Le Bras, and Samuel Rossille to tackle a deeply entrenched problem: traditional insurers often ignore the everyday needs of small businesses. These companies are typically stuck with slow-moving, opaque insurance processes that weren’t built for their size or pace.

Before co-founding Orus, Dartiguenave spent five years at VC firm Partech, witnessing firsthand how underserved the SMB segment was.

Orus flips the model. It’s built specifically for small businesses and uses more than 300 data points—from weather risk to financial health—to tailor policies in real time. Getting insured takes under 5 minutes, and claims are settled in days, not months.

And the impact? In just 18 months, Orus has grown revenue 10x, serves over 30,000 customers, and holds an impressive 4.9/5 rating on Trustpilot.

Dartiguenave emphasizes that the company isn’t trying to replace brokers—they’re building tools that empower them. By combining trust with tech, Orus wants to give small businesses the best of both worlds: real human guidance backed by streamlined digital tools.

Going Beyond Borders: Spain and Beyond

Spain is already outperforming France for Orus—and that’s just the beginning. The company is going big on international growth, with plans to expand across Europe by 2026.

A key part of this strategy is the upcoming broker platform, which blends Orus’s digital simplicity with expert support from advisors. It’s a hybrid model designed for scale, offering faster service without sacrificing trust.

While other insurtechs like Alan and Getsafe focus on health or direct-to-consumer insurance, Orus is carving out a niche in digital property and casualty (P&C) insurance for SMBs. It’s full-stack, meaning Orus co-creates insurance products, underwrites them, distributes them, and handles claims—all in-house.

This integrated approach makes Orus stand out from legacy players and digital competitors alike. And in the U.S., similar models have proven their worth—Next Insurance, for example, was acquired by Munich Re for $2 billion.

The Go-To Insurance Platform for Europe’s Small Businesses

Orus isn’t just streamlining quote forms or speeding up claims. It’s building a one-stop insurance hub for small businesses—offering everything from general liability to decennial liability, business owner’s policies, and even health insurance.

With 2,500+ new customers joining every month, the growth is clear—and so is the mission: make business insurance simple, scalable, and truly useful.

Backing that mission, Henri Tilloy, Partner at Singular, says Orus is “not just building a great product—they’re defining a new category.” He notes that the platform delivers “a quote in three minutes” and serves the entire SME landscape, from freelancers to retail chains.

As Orus continues its rapid rise, it’s clear the startup is on track to become the digital insurance backbone for Europe’s SMB economy—bringing clarity, speed, and trust back into a system long overdue for change.
