Utrecht-based clean energy technology company Withthegrid has raised €3.5 million in funding to accelerate its mission of making Europe’s energy grids smarter and more flexible. The investment combines €2 million in equity from climate tech investor Move Energy and €1.5 million in debt financing from Rabobank and Nationaal Groenfonds. This fresh capital will fuel the company’s international expansion and drive the next phase of product development.
Tackling Grid Congestion and Power Distribution Challenges
As Europe races toward renewable energy adoption, the pressure on its power infrastructure keeps growing. Soaring electricity demand, combined with geopolitical tensions, is straining grid systems. Withthegrid aims to solve these pain points with its core product—the Teleport Gateway—designed for real-time control and smart energy management.
This powerful solution seamlessly connects over 450 types of energy assets, including solar inverters, wind turbines, battery storage systems, and EV charging stations. By providing real-time data integration and control, the Teleport Gateway allows energy traders, grid operators, and asset owners to optimize energy flow and reduce congestion.
Top energy players like Eneco, Vattenfall, Essent, Vandebron, and Novar already trust Withthegrid to unlock flexibility and tap into new revenue streams from grid services and energy markets.
Seamless Integration Boosts Performance and Reliability
What sets Withthegrid apart is its plug-and-play compatibility with leading energy monitoring and analytics platforms such as ACCURE and SynaptiQ. Users can also leverage Withthegrid’s own Power Quality Monitoring system to track and improve performance without disrupting existing workflows.
This integration gives customers faster access to reliable data, improves decision-making, and ensures they remain agile in Europe’s rapidly evolving energy landscape.
Scaling Secure, Independent Energy Flexibility Across Europe
Friso Bensdorp, Partner at Move Energy, praised the company’s innovative approach:
“We see scalable and secure asset flexibility as vital for a sustainable energy future. Withthegrid’s Teleport Gateway delivers exactly that—helping market players navigate increasingly congested grids with confidence.”
Backing the company’s scale-up phase, Nationaal Groenfonds added:
“Withthegrid is entering a crucial growth stage. We’re proud to support their expansion as they continue to develop solutions vital for Europe’s energy transition.”
CEO Paul Mignot on the Road Ahead
Reacting to the successful fundraise, Withthegrid CEO Paul Mignot shared his excitement:
“Securing support from respected organizations like Move Energy, Rabobank, and Nationaal Groenfonds is a major milestone. Their confidence reinforces our mission and propels us closer to our goals. Together, we’re ready to drive the next chapter of smart energy innovation.”
Paving the Way for a Smarter, More Resilient Energy Future
With this funding, Withthegrid plans to scale up its Teleport Gateway’s capabilities, expand its Asset Library, and strengthen operations to support broader European deployment.
Customers will soon benefit from faster project rollouts, expanded asset compatibility, and stricter compliance with European grid operator standards. Enhanced data security and resilience will also be a priority as energy systems become more digital and complex.
Paul Mignot summed up the company’s vision:
“The energy transition depends on real-time asset control and secure data exchange. This investment strengthens our ability to support clients in navigating the challenges of a digital energy ecosystem. Our goal remains clear—to deliver reliable, future-proof energy flexibility across Europe.”
